Strawbery Banke Museum exists to preserve the traditions and culture that make New England so special. Over the years, we’ve developed special holiday events that have become a cherished part of Seacoast-area life. We urge you to join us for all of them. An American Celebration!

A real old-fashioned fabulous 4th of July! Complete with children’s parade, traditional games and crafts, historic garden tours, music, living history, food and fun for all.

Ghosts on the Banke
Come and meet the Ghosts on the Banke at Strawbery Banke’s famous Halloween celebration.  Long-dead sea captains, 17th century shopkeepers and wayward pirates haunt the streets of Portsmouth’s oldest neighborhood as you trick or treat safely from house to historic house.

The Witch's House
Horse-Drawn Wagon Rides
The Great Bonfire
Spooky Snacks and much more!

Members FREE.  Non-members $6.00/person.

Holiday House Tours
These guided 90-minute tours focus on the evolution of winter traditions over the centuries. Visitors tour five historic houses and experience the widely various decorations, sights, sounds, and smells of holidays and winter days past. The tour culminates with hot cider and hearth cooking — a homey highlight to the holiday season!
 
Members FREE. Adults $12.00, Children (5-17) $10.00, Families (2 adults + children under 17) $30.00.

Candlelight Stroll
Stroll through life in a simpler time as 350 years of American history, winter traditions, and holiday celebrations unfolds around you in New Hampshire's oldest waterfront neighborhood.  
  • Historic houses from four centuries decorated in period regalia
  • Hundreds of candles lighting the lanes and landscape
  • Carolers singing throughout the neighborhood
  • Horse drawn carriage rides through Puddle Dock’s wintry lanes
  • Gingerbread house contest and display
  • Live music and holiday entertainment for all ages

Bring the whole family for a wholesome stroll through the sights, sounds, and smells of New England's favorite holiday season. Members FREE.

Event parking information:
There is only handicapped parking available at the Museum for Candlelight Stroll. All other visitors should utilize the free Vintage Christmas Trolley and public parking areas.
